Dating to the late 19th century this building is of eclecticism style influenced by gothic architecture in relation -referring-to the European Middle-age style with elements of baroque ,classicism and art nouveau .
It is made of white stone apparent on the three facades of the building probably from the local quarries. Two octagonal towers dominate the building.
Left to the Museum by Athanasios and Vera Kouloura, it is located at Poseidonos Avenue in Palaio Phaliro -a seaside suburb of Athens- on grounds totalling 1,042,20 m2. The building occupies 287,5 m2 of the total surface area of the grounds, comprising 291,20m2 at basement level, 228,85 m2 at ground level, and 146,13 m2 at the upper floor.
In conformity with the general scheme for improving the properties belonging to the Benaki Museum, the Vera Kouloura mansion has been designated as the future home of the collection of children’s Toys and Games that was donated to the Museum by Maria Argyriadi in 1992.
